devils-advocate is a Claude Code skill that generates 5–7 targeted pedagogical challenges against a slide deck to surface design flaws before a lecture is taught. It activates on phrases like "devil's advocate", "poke holes in this deck", or "stress-test the design", then reads the target lecture file, the knowledge base in `.claude/rules/`, and adjacent lectures to check narrative continuity — all in read-only mode. Challenges span seven categories: topic ordering, prerequisite gaps, missing intuitive examples, alternative presentations, notation conflicts, cognitive load per slide, and whether a section could stand alone as a book chapter. Each challenge includes the specific question, the risk if ignored, a concrete resolution, affected slides, and a severity rating. Course designers and instructors use it when they want honest, structured pushback on lecture structure rather than a full pedagogical audit — for that, the lighter companion to `/pedagogy-review`.
