one-three-one-rule is a Claude Code skill that produces structured decision briefs in the 1-3-1 format: one problem statement, three options with pros and cons, and one recommendation backed by a Definition of Done and a concrete implementation plan. It activates when a user asks for options or when a task has multiple genuinely distinct approaches — architecture choices, tooling decisions, or migration strategies. Each of the three options (A, B, C) represents a different strategy rather than a minor variation; the recommendation is stated directly as a professional judgment. The Definition of Done lists specific, verifiable outcomes, while the Implementation Plan includes concrete commands and actions for the chosen path. If the user selects a different option, the recommendation, DoD, and plan update accordingly.
