Paperclip is a self-hosted shell (Node.js server + React UI) for orchestrating a team of AI agents around real work: you set a business goal, assign agents to roles, and track progress and costs from one dashboard. Reach for it when a single worker agent is not enough and you want to run a whole "company" of agents — lay out an org chart, set budgets and governance, align on goals, and coordinate work between agents. It looks like a task manager but underneath sits org charts, budgets, and goal alignment. It plugs in any agents — OpenClaw, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor — plus Bash and HTTP: "if it can receive a heartbeat, it's hired." Its focus is managing business goals and a team of agents, not writing code or being a coding assistant itself: it is an orchestration layer over your agents that you deploy yourself.
