STORM is a system from Stanford that uses language models and internet search to write a structured, Wikipedia-style article on a given topic with source citations. Reach for it when you need a coherent survey of a topic with source work quickly: STORM conducts research on its own (including by simulating questions from different experts), gathers and cross-checks sources, and produces a long article with sections and citations you can build on. There is a collaborative writing mode (Co-STORM). Its focus is automatically creating long, source-backed survey articles on a topic, not a chat assistant or a search engine: the value is getting a draft of an encyclopedic article with research in one run. The result is a draft that should be checked and edited. It suits research, preparing overviews, and initial exploration of an unfamiliar topic; in job it sits alongside deep-research agents.
