Task analysis before coding

engineering

brainstorming is a Claude Code skill that fires before any non-trivial task — adding features, building components, or changing system behavior — and prevents the agent from jumping straight into code without understanding what's actually needed. It surfaces user intent, requirements, and design decisions before implementation begins, turning vague requests into a clear, agreed-upon spec. The skill is especially valuable when working with ambiguous or open-ended prompts where premature coding would lead the agent off track. Part of the Superpowers methodology, it triggers automatically as the first step in the workflow: the agent asks clarifying questions, aligns on design, and only then proceeds to planning and execution.
