free-claude-code is an open-source tool that lets you use the familiar Claude Code interface with other models. Reach for it when the Claude Code workflow suits you but the model must differ — because of price, regional availability, or a requirement to keep everything in a particular perimeter: the tool intercepts Claude Code's requests and routes them to one of 48 providers, including NVIDIA NIM and OpenRouter. Commands, the conversation and file handling stay the same; only the model behind them changes. It also helps where you have no direct access to a given provider's API. It is an adapter shell: output quality comes from the chosen model, while the tool handles compatibility. The terms of use of third-party providers' models are worth checking separately.
