netviz — animated network architecture diagrams
★ 1K
netviz is an open-source browser-based tool for designing and animating network architectures visually. Reach for it when you need to show colleagues how a request travels through a load balancer and microservices, when you want an animated diagram for a conference talk or an incident post-mortem recording, or when a static architecture drawing simply isn't enough to convey data flow. Drag server, proxy, and database blocks onto a canvas, connect them with edges, then build and tune animated request-path flows with optional camera follow. Production templates, custom blocks with user-supplied icons, undo/redo, an inspector panel, dark and light themes, and image export are all included. Everything is saved locally via IndexedDB — no account or backend required. Written in TypeScript; runs locally with Node.js 20+ and the Aube package manager. The production build outputs a plain static site in dist/, deployable to any static host or via Coolify using the bundled Docker Compose file. The tool is for designing intended architectures, not capturing live telemetry — use a monitoring solution for that. Suited for DevOps teams, tech talks, and educational content. The author does not accept pull requests or add features on request; fork the repo to make modifications.
