Reach for it when you're tired of sorting inbox messages by hand, when you need to tag emails automatically by sender, subject, or content, or when label-based routing has to run as a step inside a larger n8n scenario. Deploy by importing Gmail - Set E-Mail Label.json into a self-hosted n8n instance — the file is standalone and independent of other workflows in the same repository. This template applies and strips labels, not deletes messages (use Gmail - Delete E-Mail for that) or saves attachments (use Gmail - Attachment to Paperless for that). Works for personal Gmail automation on self-hosted n8n with a configured Gmail credential. Not suited for cloud n8n without credential setup.
