Code Abstraction and Pattern Refactoring
learning
abstraction-power is a Claude Code skill that activates the ATLAS abstraction thinking mode: it recognizes repeated patterns, extracts essential characteristics, and builds reusable abstractions from concrete examples. The skill follows a structured five-step process — collecting specific instances, finding common features, discarding irrelevant details, extracting essentials, and producing a generalized model such as an interface, design pattern, or architectural principle. For instance, three notification methods (email, SMS, push) collapse into a single NotificationChannel interface with connect / format / deliver, letting new channels plug in without touching existing code. Every response includes the concrete inputs, the abstraction process, and the resulting model with a Mermaid flowchart (graph TD or graph LR by default). Useful for developers refactoring duplicated logic, designing scalable systems, or diagnosing Open/Closed Principle violations across a codebase.
