DaVinci Resolve MCP — AI control of video editing
★ 8.0 · media-processing
davinci-resolve-mcp is an MCP server that lets AI assistants control DaVinci Resolve Studio through its official Scripting API. It claims full API coverage plus guarded workflow helpers for editing, media pool organization, render setup, review markers, grading, Fusion, Fairlight, project lifecycle tasks, extension authoring and source-safe media analysis that leaves the source files untouched. Reach for it when you want to automate editing straight from chat: place markers, set up renders, organize clips in the media pool, or apply color or Fusion settings across many clips without switching windows. Install with one command, npx davinci-resolve-mcp setup; the installer creates a virtual environment, detects Resolve paths and can configure Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Zed, Continue, Cline, Roo Code, OpenCode, Codex CLI and JetBrains IDEs. A local browser control panel lets you inspect Resolve state and edit analysis results. Before connecting, set Resolve's external scripting preference to Local. External scripting works in the Studio edition; the free edition has an in-app bridge through Workspace > Scripts, but only on Resolve 21.0.x, since 21.1 moved Python scripting to Studio. The direction is controlling Resolve from an AI assistant, not general video processing outside Resolve.
