socratic-design makes Claude Code gate any plan or implementation on decisions first, ensuring all critical requirements, constraints, and tradeoffs are resolved before anything is produced. Each turn delivers exactly one atomic question via the ask tool — accompanied by a recommended answer, a rationale, and an analysis of what changes if the opposite path is chosen. Questions follow a strict ten-step sequence: Outcome → Scope → Constraints → Facts → Invariants → Options → Tradeoffs → Decision → Validation → Exec Gate, with no child question allowed while a parent remains open. Once all critical decisions are closed, the skill outputs a shared understanding summary, a resolved decision tree, an open-risk register with owners, and a plan skeleton. It is best suited for architecture design, planning, and refactoring work where requirements are ambiguous or tradeoffs remain unresolved.
