danilo-znamerovszkij/draw-your-font is an open-source tool that converts a photo of your handwritten alphabet into installable TTF, WOFF, and WOFF2 font files. Reach for it when you want to use your own handwriting on a website, wedding invitations, or brand materials without paying for a font license; when you need a one-of-a-kind typeface nobody else has; when you want to go from paper to an installable font in a single session. Built in JavaScript, it runs entirely locally on Node ≥ 18 with zero system dependencies — no FontForge, no ImageMagick, no potrace binary required; vectorization is bundled. Two modes: CLI via npx draw-your-font make photo.jpg --chars "ABCabc" --name "MyHand", and a Claude Code skill installed with npx skills add. In skill mode, Claude uses vision to find and label letters in the photo, then iterates on the font through plain conversation — "make it rounder", "the g looks off" — and can export a CSS @font-face snippet. Refinement flags --smooth, --weight, and --formats give direct control. AI only locates and evaluates letters; contour tracing is purely algorithmic. Direction is handwriting-to-font, not editing an existing typeface. Output quality depends on even lighting and clear letterforms; kerning and ligatures are planned for a future version. MIT license, commercial use permitted.
