Context7 — up-to-date library docs for AI agents

★ 8.0 · research

Context7 is an MCP server and skill set for Claude Code that pulls up-to-date, version-specific documentation and code examples into your prompt, so the agent does not invent APIs that do not exist or write outdated code. Add use context7 to a request, for example about Next.js middleware or configuring a Cloudflare Worker, or name a library as /supabase/supabase. It works in two modes: CLI plus a skill (the ctx7 library and ctx7 docs commands), or an MCP server with the tools resolve-library-id and query-docs. Install with one command, npx ctx7 setup, which has a --claude flag; you can also connect https://mcp.context7.com/mcp by hand. Node.js 18 or newer is needed; a free API key from context7.com/dashboard gives higher rate limits. The documentation backend is private, and the repository holds the MCP server code. The license is MIT. It suits anyone coding with AI who works with fast-changing libraries.
