n8n Assistant is a Claude Code skill that designs, optimizes and troubleshoots n8n automations and produces importable workflow JSON. First it learns your skill level and clarifies the goal, data shape, trigger and target service. It knows the n8n data model: nodes output an array of items, expressions live in double curly braces, data is read through $json and $node, webhook data sits under $json.body, and the Code node returns an array of objects with a json key. It covers branching, Merge, loops, Split Out and Aggregate, HTTP Request, databases, error handling, AI agents, chains and RAG, webhooks and schedules, sub-workflows, self-hosting and queue mode. Most importantly, when n8n-mcp is connected it builds workflows iteratively with search_nodes, get_node and validate_node, then n8n_create_workflow and n8n_update_partial_workflow, respecting the short versus full nodeType prefix and validation profiles. Without n8n-mcp it writes the JSON by hand. Call it for any n8n task.
