PageLM is an open-source self-hosted education platform that converts study materials into interactive learning formats: quizzes, flashcards, Cornell-style notes, AI podcasts, exam simulations, and more. Reach for it when you need to prepare for an exam across a large set of lecture notes without re-reading everything; when an instructor wants to auto-generate assessment questions from their own course materials; when it's easier to listen to content on the go than to read it; or when academic documents can't be uploaded to third-party cloud services. Built on TypeScript with Node.js ≥ 21.18, React 18+, and LangChain; accepts PDF, DOCX, Markdown, and TXT files. The toolset includes contextual document chat, SmartNotes, spaced-repetition flashcards, scored quizzes with hints and explanations, AI Podcast generation, voice transcription of lecture recordings, a homework planner, ExamLab for exam simulation, and AI-powered debate practice. Runs self-hosted and supports Ollama and any LLM of your choice. Unlike cloud-based NotebookLM, the code is open and your data stays on your own server; unlike a generic document chatbot, it produces structured learning artifacts rather than plain answers.
