CrossPaste/crosspaste-desktop is an open-source clipboard-sync tool that shares clipboard content across devices over a local network, with no cloud and no third-party servers involved. Reach for it when you're constantly emailing yourself links between a laptop and desktop; when company policy blocks cloud clipboard services but you still need to move a code snippet or file between machines; when clipboard contents are sensitive and sending them through an external server is out of the question. Supports text, colors, URLs, HTML, RTF, images, and files; keeps a searchable clipboard history with automatic space management; includes local OCR (no network calls), a CLI for terminal and script use, a Chrome extension for browser-to-device sync, and an MCP server that exposes clipboard history to AI assistants like Claude. Built in Kotlin on Compose Multiplatform with SQLite storage, licensed under AGPL-3.0, and runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux. Devices connect directly over LAN with end-to-end encryption; all data stays local. Run via Gradle (`./gradlew app:run`) or download prebuilt binaries from the official site. Designed for LAN clipboard sync, not internet-based transfer — machines on different networks need a VPN or tunnel to connect.
