Proxelar — MITM proxy for HTTP traffic inspection

★ 1.1K

proxelar is an open-source Rust tool that acts as a local MITM proxy for capturing, inspecting, intercepting, replaying, and rewriting HTTP, HTTPS, and WebSocket traffic. Reach for it when you need to see exactly what an app sends over the wire, debug an API integration without access to its source code, mock a backend endpoint during local development, or replay a problematic request to reproduce a bug. Distributed as a single binary installable via Homebrew, winget, Cargo, or Docker/Podman. Offers four interfaces: an interactive TUI (default), plain terminal output, a browser-based GUI, and a headless REST API. Traffic rules are defined in Lua scripts through on_request and on_response hooks — block, rewrite, redirect, or short-circuit requests without clicking through a UI. Supports HTTPS MITM with local CA generation, forward and reverse proxy modes, SOCKS5, WireGuard, DNS inspection, WebSocket frame capture, and HAR/curl/raw HTTP import-export with secret redaction. Sessions can be saved and reloaded; addons are distributed as versioned packages with SHA-256 integrity checks. This is a dual-use tool — intercepting traffic is only lawful on systems you own or are explicitly authorized to test. Best suited for developers and QA engineers; it is not a replacement for full security suites like Burp Suite.
