nyx is an open-source tool for cleaning traces of activity on Linux, macOS and Windows. Reach for it in lawful scenarios: preparing a machine for handover or disposal, wiping sensitive data from command history and temporary files after working with secrets, returning a test rig to a clean state. It ships as a single self-contained script and covers more than twenty areas on Linux — bash and zsh shell history, traces from Python, MySQL, Docker and dozens of other tools. It is a dual-use tool: the same capabilities serve to hide intrusion traces, so it is used lawfully on your own systems and within authorised penetration testing. Responsibility for use rests with the user; on systems that are not yours, without permission, it is illegal.
