Micracode — local AI web app builder
★ 289
Micracode is an open-source AI web app builder that runs as a desktop app on your own computer. Reach for it when you want to describe an app in words and get a working project, when you want to iterate in chat or edit the code directly in a Monaco editor with live preview, or when you would rather not sign up for a cloud builder such as Lovable, v0 or Bolt. The TypeScript core runs in-process inside Electron, LLM orchestration goes through the pi coding agent SDK, and Hono serves the internal HTTP/SSE layer; the UI uses Next.js 15, React 19, Tailwind, Radix UI, shadcn/ui and Zustand. OpenAI, Google Gemini and Anthropic are supported: the key is entered in Settings and stored in a local config file, and there is no Micracode server. Model requests still go to the provider you choose. Projects are saved as plain folders in ~/opener-apps/. A public static preview link through temp.md is created only when you ask for it. Install a prebuilt macOS app from Releases (no Node.js or Python needed) or build from source with Node.js 22.18.0 and Bun 1.1+. The focus is generating and editing app code, not hosting. You need a key for at least one provider; prebuilt releases are macOS-only for now.
