PocketBase — backend in one file

★ 61.2K

PocketBase is an open-source Go backend that bundles an embedded SQLite database with realtime subscriptions, built-in file and user management, a simple REST-ish API and an admin dashboard UI. Reach for it when you need a backend for an app or MVP quickly without wiring up a separate database, authentication and file storage, when you want a portable server that starts from a single executable, or when you want to add your own logic in JavaScript or Go. You download a prebuilt executable from the Releases page, extract it and run `./pocketbase serve`; the prebuilt builds ship with the JS VM plugin enabled so you can extend them with JavaScript. The second route is to use PocketBase as a Go library (`go get github.com/PocketBase`) and build your own app with custom routes into one statically linked executable; building needs Go 1.27+. Official SDKs cover JavaScript (browser, Node.js, React Native) and Dart (web, mobile, desktop, CLI). The pure-Go SQLite driver works without CGO on Linux, macOS, Windows, FreeBSD and other targets. It is a data and authentication server, not a frontend framework. Full backward compatibility is not guaranteed before v1.0.0, so factor that in for production.
