AIPex — AI browser automation

★ 1.3K

AIPex is an open-source browser automation agent that runs as a Chrome and Edge extension inside the browser you already use and connects to AI coding agents over MCP. Reach for it when you want Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code Copilot to click and fill in forms on real websites within your logged-in sessions, when you do not want a separate browser or a monthly subscription for a cloud operator, or when you need to tidy a hundred open tabs or script browser tasks from a terminal or CI job. Under the hood the extension talks over WebSocket to a local bridge started with `npx -y aipex-mcp-bridge`, giving the agent more than 30 tools. Instead of slow screenshot loops it searches structured DOM snapshots with glob/grep and acts on stable element UIDs. It also ships `browser-cli` (tab, page, interact, download, intervention and skill command groups) and a ready-made `aipex-browser` skill for Claude Code. You bring your own API key (BYOK); MIT licensed. The direction is controlling your existing browser with its live cookies and tabs rather than launching an isolated profile. Node.js is needed for the bridge. It fits Chrome or Edge workflows; vision-based page understanding is still unchecked on the roadmap.
