wacli — WhatsApp from the terminal
★ 2.8K
wacli is an open-source command-line WhatsApp client for sending messages, searching chat history, and managing chats from the terminal or scripts. Reach for it when you need to send WhatsApp notifications automatically from a CI/CD pipeline or cron job, when you want to search through your full message history without opening the app, when you need to integrate WhatsApp into a custom backend via shell scripts, or when you want to export messages and media locally without relying on cloud services. Written in Go with SQLite (FTS5) for local storage; distributed as a CLI tool installable via Homebrew, prebuilt archives, or Docker, supporting macOS, Linux, and Windows. Pairs with your account as a linked device via QR code using the WhatsApp Web protocol through whatsmeow. The local SQLite index enables full-text search offline; output is human-readable tables by default or NDJSON for scripting; a --read-only mode prevents any writes. This tool uses the unofficial WhatsApp Web protocol — use it only in compliance with WhatsApp's terms of service and applicable law. Not suitable when a graphical client or the official WhatsApp Business API is required.
