ntfy — push notifications from scripts

★ 34.5K

ntfy (pronounced "notify") is a simple, open-source, HTTP-based pub-sub notification service: it sends push notifications to your phone or desktop from scripts, with no sign-up or fees. Reach for it when you want your phone to ping you the moment a server script finishes or fails, when a home server or CI pipeline should report events instead of only writing to a log, or when you need a lightweight way to alert yourself without your own infrastructure. It works like this: a script sends a PUT or POST request (for example with curl) to a named topic, and any subscribed mobile app or browser receives the notification. A free version is available at ntfy.sh, and because the project is open source you can run your own instance. There is an open-source Android app (Google Play and F-Droid) and an open-source iOS app (App Store). For people who prefer not to self-host, the author offers paid ntfy Pro plans from $5 a month. Written in Go under Apache 2.0. The direction is outbound alerts to devices, not data collection. It is not a monitoring system with dashboards; see ntfy.sh/docs for installation and the API.
